This year’s holiday card features Regina Pizzeria, a Boston landmark that has welcomed neighbors and newcomers since 1926 at its original location at 11 1/2 Thatcher Street. If you haven't been, it is worth the line for the experience! It is more than a beloved slice of the North End. It is the place where Denise and her father shared one of their happiest afternoons together. On a hot summer day, they sat in this very spot with a crisp pitcher of Coors Light and a brick oven pizza that came out bubbling and perfect. He rarely ate out, yet he talked about that day often, always with a smile that carried a quiet pride. He loved Boston’s North End, its narrow streets, Paul Revere’s House, and the Old North Church where lanterns once signaled a turning point in our history nearly 250 years ago. This card was created in May as Denise and her family prepared to lay her father to rest in Minnesota. It stands as a tribute to his stories, his laughter, and the steady light he brought to her life. Hold the card up to the glow of a small light and let it illuminate the windows. Remember that it is the small moments, shared over pizza or laughter or a walk through old streets, that become the threads that hold our lives together. The Regina Pizzeria card is the second piece in the New England Lantern Series. The first design, released in 2024, featured 78 Beacon Street, the stunning brownstone with double bay windows and festive greenery along The Public Garden. Set side by side, the two cards begin a growing village of New England landmarks. Each one folds flat for safekeeping and comes to life when placed on a branch, a tablescape, or above a flameless tealight. Over the years, we hope these lanterns will gather into a tiny landscape of places that carry the spirit of New England. Missing a year? Email or text us, we have a few extras and we will pop one in the mail! Ideas for next year’s design are always welcome! Denise periodically works throughout the year on the project. If you would like to share your thoughts, you can join the short survey below and help shape the next lantern in the series.
